Question: What's the highlight of Miin-Wu School of Computing(SoC)?
SoC aims to consolidate the niche of the nine existing colleges of National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), developing innovative applications of cross-domain technologies with a global competitive advantage through top-down strategic planning. This will be accomplished through flexible, student-centered and professionally oriented curriculum planning, and by recruiting top-notch/renowned researchers with rich experience and enthusiasm in cross-domain applications. SoC will also build strong corporate and international connections to help researchers and students broaden their horizons and enhance their competitiveness. It is expected that students will be trained to be proficient in at least two areas (one in non-electrical information and the other in computational skills). We believe that students with bilingual communication skills will be able to truly innovate across domains, which will lead to better careers in the future.
Question: Where is Miin-Wu School of Computing located?
The headquarters and offices of SoC are located on the fourth floor of the newly constructed Cheng-Kung Innovation Center - Macronix Hall(Wang- Hung Building) in Sheng-Li Campus of NCKU, and the related teaching activities will be carried out in conjunction with the open teaching spaces on other floors of the Macronix Building as far as possible. In addition, as some of the faculty members are co-employed with other departments, there are corresponding teaching and research centers in other departments on campus.
Question: What is "bilingual"?
To put it simply, students in non-Electrical Information(EI) related fields not only need to learn the tools of AI application, but also need to be able to utilize them in their original fields, while students in EI related fields also need to understand the professional needs of another field (and could choose the field they want to cross and learn according to their own interests). In this way, students from two different fields will be able to communicate and interact with each other in depth without the help of others.
