Miin-Wu School of Computing(SoC)
Q: What is the special difference of Miin-Wu School of Computing(SoC)?
A: The College aims to consolidate the niches of the nine existing colleges of NCKU, and to develop innovative applications of computing-centered, cross-domain technologies with global competitive advantages through top-down strategic planning. This would be accomplished through flexible student-centered and professionally oriented curriculum planning, and by recruiting experienced and enthusiastic top-notch/renowned researchers in cross-domain applications. The College also builds strong corporate and international connections to help researchers and students broaden their horizons and enhance their competitiveness. It is expected that students would be trained to be proficient in at least two areas (one in non-electrical information and the other in computational skills). We believe that students with bilingual communication skills will be able to truly innovate across domains, which will lead to better careers in the future.
Q: Where is Miin-Wu School of Computing(SoC)?
A: Miin-Wu School of Computing is located on the fourth floor of Cheng Kung Innovation Center - Macronix Building (donated by MACRONIX) in Sheng-Li Campus of NCKU. A core computing classroom, an interdisciplinary research center, administration offices, and conference rooms are all included. Interdisciplinary courses are conducted mainly in the existing nine colleges' teaching space. Part of the practical system integration courses take place on the second and fourth floor of the Cheng Kung Innovation Center - MACRONIX Building.
Q: What is “bilingual”?
A: To put it simply, students in non-electrical information related fields not only need to learn the tools of AI application, but also need to be able to utilize them in their original fields, while students in electrical information related fields also need to understand the professional needs of another field (they can choose the field they want to cross according to their own interests). In this way, students from two different fields will be able to communicate and interact with each other in depth independently.
Q: I’m interested in the program, how should I apply for it?
A: Undergraduate students from NCKU departments are welcome to apply. Simply fill in the application form, prepare and submit the relevant information within the application deadline to complete the application procedure.
